Ramsbottom United Supporters Club are getting into the spirit of the Olympics for a charity bike ride.

The fans are teaming up with Ramsbottom United AFC Juniors and Bury Tandem Club for the Visually Impaired for a midnight sponsored tandem ride on the opening day of the season.

The charity fundraiser takes place on Saturday August 18 when 24 members of the Tandem Club set off at midnight to cycle 190 miles from the Manchester Velodrome to the new velodrome at the Olympic Village.

Organisers say one of the riders will be former Bury and Ramsbottom United player Wayne Entwistle and that sponsorship forms will be available at the three upcoming home matches prior to the ride.

Fans can also start buying their season tickets for new season from this Saturday when Ramsbottom welcome Evo-Stik NPL Premier new boys Witton Albion. The tickets, which will also be on sale next Wednesday [August 8] when the club welcome League neighbours Bury to the Harry Williams Stadium, are priced at £100 for adults and £50 for U16s and over 65s.

Admission is normally £7 for adults and £3.50 for U16s and Over 65s, offering fans a discounted season ticket match day price of £4.77 and £2.38 per match respectively.

On the playing front Ramsbottom United announced today [Wednesday] that they have completed the signing of Martin Cosgrove, a wide man who moves to the Riverside from local rivals Bacup Borough.

On Tuesday the Rams continued their preparations for the new season with an entertaining 2-0 victory at Nelson.

Jon Robinson blasted home their opening goal on 23 minutes before 18-year old Adam Nuttall curved in a beauty from just inside the area with five minutes to go.
