Stamford AFC manager Graham Drury wants hot-shot Karl Gibbs to join his Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club’s promotion quest.
Drury, in his second spell in the Daniels hot-seat, has led his side to third spot ahead of Tuesday's trip to Sutton Coldfield Town.
But Drury has told the Peterborough Telgraph he still wants to draft in more firepower. Gibbs, who had a brief spell in Stamford colours back in 2009, is the man at the top of his shopping list after scoring 15 goals in 13 games already this season for United Counties oufit St Ives Town.
Drury said: "Karl is a player I’ve known about for some time. He scores a lot of goals and I think he has the class to step up. I’ve heard he is on decent money at St Ives and I’m not sure I’ll be able to match that.
"I’m working on a tight budget but hopefully he has the ambition to come up a level and be a part of the promotion challenge we’re trying to put together."
