Nantwich Town have been forced to postpone all youth action tonight [Monday] because of heavy rain and flood warnings.
Persistant rain is continuing to fall in South Cheshire and across the North West and the Dabbers say the downpours have rendered the club’s 3G facility unplayable. As a result, the Dabbers have been forced to cancel Monday night's junior coaching sessions along with the Pitch Invasion League.
Facilities Director Steve Talbot said: "The unprecedented amount of rainfall during the night and throughout the day has been more than any normal drainage system can cope with.
"As it shows no signs of stopping and with the Weather forecast predicting its continuation for the rest of the evening and into tomorrow, we have no alternative but to cancel the activities on the 3G and Malbank playing fields."
He added: "We would like to apologise in advance for the disappointment and inconvenience this may cause. We will review the situation again tomorrow morning [Tuesday] and issue another update then. If the adverse weather conditions continue it could also affect the first team game against Manchester United's Academy side as the first team pitch is currently also unplayable."
