Belper Town Football Club are aiming to be one of the Evo-Stik NPL’s most family friendly clubs after launching a new initiative to attract more families to Christchurch Meadow.
From this season, two adults and up to two children aged up to 14 years will be admitted to the Nailers' home league matches for a cut price £12. A free copy of the match programme, usually adding £1.50 to a family's budget, will also be included in the price.
The Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club is also planning to make a day out at Christchurch Meadow fun for all the family with the reintroduction of their matchday mascot scheme and half-time penalty shoot-out competitions for youngsters. The club shop with also be stocking more child specific Nailers merchandise and around the ground pricing policies for drinks, snacks and treats will be set at affordable levels.
Supporter Liaison Officer Ian Featherby believes the initiatives will go down well with fans and as an added benefit will give adult supporters with children a chance to enjoy the action safe in the knowledge that their youngsters are also having a great time.
"We have been working hard over the past 12 months to improve the matchday experience for all of our supporters and specifically to generate greater interest in the club from younger age groups," he said.
"A main element of our plan is to attract more family groups to our matches and to develop a range of matchday features designed to hold the interest of children whilst parents can enjoy the match action.
"We will also be introducing a range of new children-specific initiatives this season, including the re-introduction of our matchday mascot scheme, half time penalty shoot-out competitions, and we are also extending our range of club merchandise to include items that will be particularly attractive to kids.
"We have a superb function room which is accessible to all adults and children on match days and our award-winning catering service provides a range of tempting snacks and drinks without the purse-busting prices charged at major football clubs.
"With watching football becoming an increasingly expensive leisure activity, we hope that this initiative, linked to our excellent and accessible facilities, will convince families that an enjoyable day out can be achieved without breaking the bank."
