Marine FC and Slimming World to Host Charity Event for SightlineZoom
Evo-Stik Premier League Marine announces that it has linked up with Slimming World to stage a cabaret fundraising evening in aid of the charity Sightline to be held in the College Suite at the Clubrooms of Marine FC on Sunday, 12 September 2010. The idea for the event came from Crosby resident Brian Cranny who is on the transplant list to have a pancreas and kidney transplant. Brian has encountered serious health problems since being diagnosed with diabetes over thirty years ago. Twelve months ago he joined Slimming World Classes, held at Marine, to lose weight in a bid to help with his medical conditions and so far he has lost over two stone to help prepare him for his future challenges. Brian is totally blind in one eye and has 5% vision in the other. In addition to raising funds for Sightline, the event has also been planned to raise the awareness of the need for middle aged males to look after themselves in terms of fitness, diet and weight and to be aware of the potential implications of being overweight.

The cabaret event includes top singer Rachel Cain, with disco and a buffet. The event is being organised jointly by Slimming World, Marine FC and Brian Cranny in aid of Sightline, a charity that provides support for partially sighted and blind people. Tickets for the event are £10 and can be purchased at the Clubrooms of Marine FC, College Rd Crosby or by contacting Brian Cranny directly on 0151 284 6721/07722 295009 or Donna Evans of Slimming World on 07983 564716.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary said:

“I am pleased that Marine Football Club and Slimming World have been able to turn Brian’s idea for a fundraising event, in aid of Sightline, into reality. It is an important night for Sightline as we work together to help both raise funds for them and assist in meeting their aims as a charity. I look forward to the people of Crosby and beyond supporting such an important cause.”

Brian Cranny said:

“We are so lucky in the North West to have a charity such as Sightline supporting the needs of visually impaired and blind people. As a partially sighted person I fully appreciate the work that they do and I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to help raise funds to ensure the continuation of their work. It is my fervent hope that the people of Crosby and surrounding areas will be able to support us at this event.”
