MARINE V FC UTD of MANCHESTER NOW SUNDAY 22 AUGUST KICK OFF MIDDAY
Evo-Stik Premier League Club Marine announces that arrangements for the first game of the season against FC United of Manchester have now been agreed with the League and officials of FC Utd following consultation with Merseyside Police who have advised that the game is to be switched from the Saturday 21st August to the following day, Sunday 22nd August with an earlier kick off at midday.
The match will not be all ticket but segregation of supporters will again take place with full spectator facilities available to both sets of fans.
Admission to the ground for FC United of Manchester supporters will be via turnstiles 1 and 2 on College Rd and for Marine supporters via gates 3 and 4 accessible via the car park to the front of the Stadium. Admission prices will be the prices set for the forthcoming season at the Arriva Stadium of Adults £9 with children and senior citizens £5.
Consultations continue with Sefton Council and Merseyside Police who have confirmed that the arrangements for policing and stewarding the game will be similar to the same fixture at the end of last season.
Marine Chairman Paul Leary said
“It is important that resources are made available for this important first game of the season for both clubs and their fans. Merseyside Police took the view that there were clear resource and logistical advantages to staging the game on the Sunday as opposed to the previous day as was the decision to kick off earlier at midday. I am in total agreement with the police advice to change the match day for that weekend and the officials of both the Evo-Stik League and FC Utd have also accepted the decision to change the day too.
I am looking forward once again to welcoming the officials, players and supporters of FC United of Manchester for this most exciting start of season fixture and I expect that the fans of both Clubs will once again have a really enjoyable day with another great and exciting game at the Arriva Stadium.”
