Media on board at Daniels

Stamford AFC are aiming to be one of the most media friendly clubs in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League after appointing an expert in the business.
The Daniels announced today [Tuesday] that Chris Rivett, Managing Director of a Northampton-based sports media company Final Third Sports Media, has accepted an invitation to join the club's board of directors.
The media man worked for Northampton Town and Luton Town prior to setting up the business in 2005. In seven-and-a-half-years since leaving the Hatters, Stamford's new director has established an award winning company with clients all over the world.
Stamford say his appointment brings expertise to the Evo-Stik First Division South club's PK Arena in a variety of areas beyond his specialist fields in the media and marketing of Graham Drury's team.
Director John Burrows explained the reasoning behind the appointment. "At the start of the close season we sat down as a board and discussed what we felt we needed as a group to be able to move the club forward," he said.
"We were very conscious of the potential development of a new stadium and were keen to evaluate what would be required to support a bigger football club, when the move to the new stadium happened. We were also concerned whether or not we had handled some very public events at the time in the best way.
"We felt one area that we needed to improve on was the relationship we have with the media, and the way in which we worked in partnership with them. We highlighted the importance of proactive interaction with our supporters.
"It was at this stage that Final Third Sports Media were recommended to us and as that relationship has evolved, the opportunity arose for Chris to add his invaluable expertise in the boardroom.
"Chris has been behind a number of initiatives, most of which we are still to reveal, and we are very pleased he has accepted our invitation so we can continue to benefit from his knowledge and contacts in the game. He will have an important role to play at the club as we work together to bring success to the Daniels on and off the field."
