FC United players Mike Norton and Nicky Platt will be joining FC supporters and around 40,000 runners at this year’s Great Manchester 10K Run on Sunday 20 May.
The pair are running to raise money for FC United at the fan-owned club look to raise the remainder of the cash to help finance their new ground and community facility at Moston in north Manchester. It will be the seventh year in a row that a team of FC supporters will be sprinting, jogging and spluttering around the course from the city centre out to Old Trafford and back to Deansgate.
FC United press and communications officer Andy Walker, who is also taking part in the run in May, said: “Last year, FC United fans taking part in the Great Manchester Run raised over £6,400 for the club and this year we hope to top that figure.
"We hope that Nicky and Mike taking part will act as an extra incentive for more of our fans to sign up. The pair of them are already swapping a bit of lively banter as to who will come out on top on 20 May and each will be looking to outdo the other in the sponsorship stakes too!”
