Ramsbottom United striker Jon Robinson has made a second u-turn on retiring.

After announcing that he was hanging up his boots due to transport difficulties a few weeks into the campaign, the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North club’s leading scorer has told the Rams he’s back on board for their debut season in the Evo-Stik NPL.

Robinson, pictured, came on as a substitute in last weekend’s 3-0 FA Cup defeat at AFC Fylde and is expected to feature again at Brigg Town on Saturday in the FA Trophy's Preliminary Round.

A Rams spokesman said: "It looked as though he had decided to retire once more so we are delighted that he has had another change of heart."

Ramsbottom's frontman first announced his retirement back in February but was persuaded to stay on at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium after supporters flooded the club’s fans forum with messages of support. Robinson went on to help the club win promotion to the Evo-Stik NPL by winning the North West Counties League title in April.

Ramsbottom are running a 10.30am coach from the ground to Brigg on Saturday with tickets for the return trip priced at £10. The club say supporters can turn up on the day or reserve seats via the club’s website www.rammyunited.co.uk.

United have also confirmed that their home league game with Bamber Bridge on Tuesday 25 September has been postponed due to Bamber's participation in the Lancashire FA Trophy.
