Warrington Town have signed their talented teenage winger Liam Shipton on contract after his promising start to the season.

The fans' favourite, pictured, celebrated signing on the dotted line with his home town club by scoring the winning goal in Warrington's 1-0 FA Cup First Qualifying Round victory over Maine Road on Saturday.

Shipton, 19, from Lymm, was previously at Blue Square Conference Premier side Wrexham as a 16-year-old.

The former Lymm High School student, who played for his school and for Woolston Rovers as a youngster, joined Evo-Stik NPL First Division North Warrington last year after being released by Wrexham.

The club said Shipton was rewarded with a contract after impressing manager Shaun Reid who today saw his side drawn away to Colywn Bay in the FA Cup's Second Qualifying Round.

"Liam is a great young talent and it is great news for the club that he has signed a contract with us," said Reid.

"With the help of the coaching staff and management I am sure he will grow into a top player and then I am sure a professional club will come knocking on the door for him."

Warrington have gone six games unbeaten since the start of the season, including winning through two qualifying rounds of the FA Cup.

The Wire are away at Bamber Bridge tomorrow [Tuesday]in their re-arranged league fixture which was postponed due to a water-logged pitch. KO 7.45pm.
